From its inception the practice has undertaken hospitality projects throughout the UK driven by John Cooper’s own personal experience of over 35 years working in the hotel and leisure sector.

There is a broad mix of projects ranging from limited service, core and luxury global brands for such as Holiday Inn, Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt, to the specialist high specification destination market. These destination hotels are invariably set in or around Conservation Areas and listed buildings and often involve restoration and rehabilitation of empty buildings as well as new building.

Destination hotels in today’s market need state of the art health and leisure facilities. Generally referred to as spas, these commercially necessary products enable hotels to sustain themselves in the highly competitive, but ever popular short stay market and the practice has specialised in the creation of such spas with an innovative and design driven approach.

In addition to the design and architecture of the branded hotels, the practice has been actively involved with the development and application of brand standards, including the publication of full brand standard specifications.
